Norm‘s responsibilities include managing RhumbLine’s investment team as well as oversite of all investment strategies and processes. Norm brings to RhumbLine almost 30 years of experience in quantitative investment management. Norm’s extensive experience includes creating and managing both active and passive quantitative investment products. He also has developed software used by portfolio managers, traders and operations personnel.

Norm’s investment career began at State Street at the launching of what has now become State Street Global Advisors (SSGA). He left State Street in 1985 as head of a group managing billions of dollars invested in structured equity products. During his years at State Street he played a key role in the creation of the first international equity index fund. In 1986 Norm along with two partners co-founded Boston International Advisors, a quantitative international equity firm which they sold 10 years later to Independence Investments a subsidiary of John Hancock. As a Managing Director he headed portfolio management and computer systems while serving as a Member of the Management and Investment Committees.

Norm holds a B.A. in Mathematics, from Tufts University and is a member of the CFA Institute and the Boston Security Analysts Society.
